Strings course

Toho Gakuen plays a central role in the education of Japanese string instrument players, which has attracted great interest from all around the world. Many renowned soloists visit our school to conduct master classes. In addition to offering intense training in the playing of each particular instrument, we pay great attention to education in orchestral and chamber music ensemble playing. Orchestral performance instruction is given under the baton of famous conductors currently active in the music world. Chamber music is also an important basis of string music education. Normal lessons are supplemented by special lectures centered on the string quartet sessions at the campus in Toyama city. This is a part of Toho Gakuen’s unique system of teaching ensemble playing, which has been the focus of wide interest.
